Artists Statement

I am a glass artist residing in Gainesville, FL where I do commissioned glass art, minor glass repair, and art glass instruction.

I graduated from the University of South Florida, in 1987, with a Masters of Science degree. In 1994, I took a stained glass continuing education class at the same University. Soon after, I opened Gamble Stained Glass and started teaching glass art at a vocational technical school. My focus shifted from stained glass to fused glass in 2001 after taking a workshop with Newy Fagan from Ocklawaha, FL. In 2005 the business name changed to Gamble Glass Studio to reflect the broader scope of the business.

I am often drawn to nature for inspiration and enjoy creating landscapes and wildlife in glass. I work primarily with fusible glass in the form of sheet, frit (crushed glass) and powder to create artistic images. The glass is assembled then fused in a kiln at temperatures reaching 1200 to 1600 F.  The final art object is often made of several components that are pre-fused, reassembled in layers, and fused again to make a unified piece of art.

I belong to several local art groups including the Gainesville Fine Arts Association and the Art Association of Alachua County. I have been participating in local art shows since 2002.
